I'm not sure these two bolts would be suitable for a roll cage or harness anchorage. I feel an interloper on the ceebmoj's Mantula thread because mine's a 3L GT. ie. I have the behind-the-tank bolts; ceebmoj's Mantula doesn't. In any case they're nothing much more than substantial self taps.
I've just consumed 40 minutes of time and 3 glasses of red wine trying to figure out how to load pix and I won't know if the minutes or the red wine has worked until I click the magic icon!
If it works, I'll go back and root through my hard drive for some tech. drawings I found a while ago, of a 4-point roll bar, which I plan to install. This anchors to 2 easily formed seatings on the far ends of the front-to-back parcel shelf chassis rails, and to the backs of the door shut panels.
This is obviously best done whilst the body tub is off the car.

I came across this info on this forum - I can't remember how I found it, but I hope I'm not contravening any copyright, or treading on anyone's toes here. It looks a bit difficult to read on this scan, so if anyone's interested in the detail, just pm me and I'll email it to you. It's an excellently thought through design, and straightforward to make and fit (preferably with the body off).

Dave How did you post the pictures? if you are using crome the buttion to add images is not visable but works fine in fire fox

After a productive afternoon in the work shop I now have the body of my chassis. I found I had to remove my exhaust headers to get the body off and apart from the back bottom bolts each side on the headers that was far easer than I expected. I slowly Jacking and propping the body on bits of wood got me to the point of having the body at about 45 degrees   I then called a friend in and we lifted the body clear and rested it back on the chassis  The rust, this is accentually not as bad as I thought it would be with the bottom rail out side rail being the worst and most of the rest of the car being in relatively good condition

OldNoccer kindly posted a 'How to' on posting pix last month and I followed that. Took me a while to persuade an 'Upload Now' button to appear, but once it starts working, it works quickly and easily. Also, you just add pix and post them as required in the future because it's hosted by YUKU. To save you the search, I've copied and pasted his guidelines below. "I create albums in Yuku - so Top Right of page click on Navigation, then Image Management, then Create Album. When in an album you have an Upload File button (I assume you have mastered getting files onto the PC - JPEG format does fine). I always drop the resolution of the image down to the lowest resolution that will show the required detail (in my case using PaintShop) - modern cameras have such high resolution that image files are massive, the lower res files are faster to transfer and don't waste server space. Once you have an album with piccies in it you can include the pictures in any post, just by clicking on the Insert Image icon in your reply (two to the left of the smiley icon)" Good luck with the chassis, David |

Bit of self indulgence here:
I've just stepped out of the shower after scrubbing a load of unscheduled Extreme Chassis Black Primer off me and taken these pix. Compared with what it was when the body came off, my chassis is now a Work of Art. I'm thinking about applying for an Arts Council grant to finish the job, and offering it on temporary loan to the Tate Modern.

David youer chassis looks great. However ubless youer chassis is vere difrent to mine you have not added back in the out board seatbelt mounting points

I've noticed on other Mantula chassis that there are quite a few differences. My seat belt anchorages are 4 large nuts welded to the lower transverse rail (which were replaced during the welding). And that's it. The chassis, as you see it in the pic, is complete.

After a relaxing weak of witch involved a lot of drinking at pride over the weakend and other fun stuff I made it back in to the work shop.
 I got the body compleatly liffted of the car and on to a dolly I made, this should keep the body out of harms way for the time. The chassy has be turned through 90 degrees so that ther is a bit more space. Im ready to pull the engin and box out all the bolts have been given a turn or so and nothing seems to be stuck so with any luck as long as splitting the engin and box goes somothly the next update sould see both out of the car. |

That is such a nice bit of work - and always interesting to see a naked chassis - especially as you have some extra brackets that I don't that might relate to top seat belt mounts. I still can't figure where the tank mounting bolts are, and I think I have looked at chassis photos from at least 4 different cars.
There was an old MOC mag which suggested using the door shut mounts as the location for a roll cage. I didn't understand how that works - but I suppose removing the rear wheel arch splash panel will show me what goes on, and a plate can be made for the back of the panel. Great rebuild though - and for those following my tips for posting pics in Yuku albums, I think the limit there is about 50Mb, but if you search for PhotoBucket on Google you can open an account FREE and have 500Mb of storage and the forum will allow you to post them in too. I just set myself up, and its a doddle, and its all free - great innit !

The extra brackets each side simply raise the top seat belt mounting point up about 10cm and back about 5cm it would be interesting to see any photos that people have of the to seat belt mounting area in side there tub as I suspect that my body is difrent to other cars in this area as i'm planning on fitting a harness I will be adding a similar bracket centrally as well. once the chassis is bare I will take a bunch of photos of the chassis witch will show the main areas I bereave are different.
@OldNoccer you might want to add to your guide that in Crome the add image button does not appear. Also do you have any picks of your rear wheel arch splash panels?

But Martyn, yours is a special racing chassis, with all sort of cross-bracing and other gubbins that none of us have seen before (or at least that is the way it seems to me).

I'm interested in adding some of the sheet work that Martyn's chassis has especially to the tunnel. Also the triangulation and anty role bar stuff looks like a good edition. I think however that I will get the standard stuff fixed then think about what extra triangulation I would like to add. in a couple of places
After a lasey day I got in to the workshop around 5 and seat about pulling the engine out of the chassis witch came out very easely however I imagen its a bit harder with the body work on.
  Then I split the engine and box and was anoyed to find I did not have the right sixe of bolt to put the engin on the engine stand  a close up of my upper seatbelt mounting point because its difrent to other matulas I have seen  Is this normal for the frount suspention geomentry?

The upper seat belt is exactly the same as the later cars, my Mantis has the same piece of box mounted on the same brackets
