Which model Marcos has he currently got? (And has he mentioned why he wants to change?)

l hate to admit it ,but before l chose to get a MARCOS -- l looked at Cobras. Had a few test drives, kicked tyres and revved the V8 engines----BUT------ask
your mate to look at the Cobra when there's a driver in it ----totally spoils the aggressive appearance of the car.
Year's ago l had a Frogeye sprite, and l remember my girlfriend commenting on the fact that l looked like l was sitting in a bath , ( the Cobra--a larger faster bath ?) With the MARCOS you are sitting/lying down in it ---you see and hear the car first, with maybe a glimpse of the driver's head, not somebody's bad taste in winter outer garments and headwear from the waist up . |

Totally agree with Marco, you sit on rather than in it just like like the BMW Z3 . Same driving position as a peddle car !
Plus there is no indivuality, no one knows if its a Dax, GD, miriad other replicas or the real deal ( mega bucks). At least a Marcos is not a replicar and unless you go for a 427 cubic inch Cobra , most of them have much the same engines as a Marcos V8. Also you will get a lot wetter in Cobra than even a Marcos ! when did you last see a Cobra out in the rain ? When I do Dream Rides it`s always the Cobra boys that rertreat into their shells first when it rains . |

If you can afford a genuine AC Cobra then it is tempting, but a very expensive proposition, and I don't think you
would do many miles in it - it is too precious. So it is more of an investment than a car.
If you are thinking of an imitation AC Cobra - then buy a Marcos instead - it is not an imitation - it is the real deal ! There are no cool points (IMHO) for driving a replica of a rare and expensive sports car, far better to have the real thing - and if we compare the Marcos to an E-type it is more rare, and was close to the same price. I think the Marcos is a car that is almost in the sweet spot between classy, rare, good looks, and on the other hand cheap enough to really get it out there and use the damned thing, or even modify it and don't feel embarassed ! And as one of our US colleagues pointed out - what you have is not a car until the wheels are going round. Stuffed in a garage it is just so much money doing nothing. Steve
There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

The car in question is a 1600, I think the change may be due to the appeal of a large V8 and something that doesn't take up so much time -- the Marcos
is rather old, with all the battle scares of thirty years. And I think it may also be due to the outlay for returning it to a reasonable condition when funds
could be used for something new and less work when its up and running. *** I still like the Marcos profile...... Will they ever start making them again. ***

The solution Mini is within your last post -------a V8 Marcos ! and for all the reasons outlined by Steve. Similar power to most Cobras on the road ,but with style, class and originality. |

Problem solved then, he wants a V8 you want a Marcos. How deep is the piggy bank ? Redline have got some tasty Mantara `s or if you really want to blow the
socks off a Cobra there is a Supercharged Mantis . Now that will turn heads
