Hi Zeke.
We plan to be at the RAF Museum but have to drop out of the evening at the ACE. I have been landed with a business do that evening at the National Motor Cycle Museum and can't really opt out. Allan & Sue |

Zeke, I'm planning to come to Hendon and the ACE if my Mantis is fixed by then. If not, I'll be coming to the ACE in humbler transport. I'll only be able to confirm a few days before the event. Thanks for doing the organising, It's a thankless task.
How do they know it was a Big Bang if there was no one around to hear it?

Have had e-mail correspondence with "the management" at the RAF Museum today, they are expecting us although I wasn't able to be much more specific than "from 10 to 20 cars sometime between 2pm and 5pm". I've just asked if we could get a group parking place near the planes for that photo op, so will let you know what they say on that. If we get enough feedback on here about who's coming and when to justify booking a guide in advance I'd be okay doing that, otherwise we could just leave it to individuals to sort something out for themselves on the day.
Everything else is looking good for the 15th, anyone know who's playing at Wembley that afternoon?

Zeke, I would not worry about organising the guide at Hendon.
No one really knows what time they will be arriving or leaving Hendon, and with 3 main Halls we might all be interested in looking at different things, or just sitting out side and enjoying the sun! |

If you want group car parking spaces around the planes we'd need to book in advance - otherwise it's likely to be a bit of pot luck unless you get there before 11am. Please note that the RAF have recently introduced car parking charges, Car Park fees are: 0-3 Hours - £2.50 per car Coaches are free of charge!

Stuart,
Without commitment saying what time people will get their (which you don't have) rain or shine just concentrate on the Ace. I am sure we will be capable of finding a parking space at Hendon, and we can move cars around to get our "pack mentality" and feel safe. With the FA Cup on Hendon could be empty, so dont worry. Thanks for letting me know - any Marcos or Morgan arriving (between 4pm and 11pm) will be given direct access to the car park although if anyone is planning on arriving in anything else can they please send me a PM with the registration and I can put you on the guest list for the marshalls on the entrance.

I have passed on your request of parking the cars together on arrival to our Security Manager. As mentioned in my email please note this is not always possible but we will endeavour to meet your requirements.
Please note, from 1 April 2010, a small car parking charge will be payable by visitors to the Royal Air Force Museum. The income generated will be used to assist in meeting the costs of maintaining the Museum's national collection and of operating its sites. Car Park fees are:
3 Hours - £2.50
per car Coaches are free
of charge
The Museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm (except 24 -26 Dec, 1 Jan and from 10-14 Jan 2011). Please note, the Grahame White Factory is open from 10.00 – 12.00 and the Battle of Britain hall is open from 12.00 – 18.00.
Please bring this letter with you when you arrive, to present to the staff on our Admissions Desk who will be expecting you. It would assist them greatly and speed your entry significantly on the day if you would complete the details below in advance. Coach Parties may alight by the hatched area. Disabled parties (cars/mini buses only) can park in disabled slots to de-bus.
May I suggest Wings restaurant for lunches or tea. Please note, as it is our policy to offer only the freshest ingredients in the preparation of our meals and for each meal to be prepared to order it would greatly aid us in enhancing the delivery of your dining experience if group-members could stagger their visit to our Restaurant. Whilst we will endeavour to serve your party as efficiently and courteously as possible, your party may experience a slight delay in service and some queuing during peak service times, particularly if members arrive en-masse.

If anyone is coming in to the Ace from the south via the Hanger lane roundabout exit please beware of potholes on the North Circular slip road leading up to the Ace.
There are two particularly bad spots at either end of the Travelodge Hotel where it looks like there have been roadworks to prepare for sleeping policemen, but there are no roadwork signs to warn you - it could be expensive if you hit them at anything over 10 miles an hour
