Certainly an improvement on the usual Marcos ground clearance problems.
Interestingly the photo of the log book on the ebay advert does show the Manufacture as Marcos, surely DVLA would not let two different manufacture's uses the same trading name and wonder if a dark distance past of Marcos has been discovered. I did read once somewhere that the factory GRP dept did make products for other markets including a plastic childs slide. Perhaps Mr Marsh and Co did make a mould for a buggy at some stage ?? and not keeping in with the higher end of the market it was aiming for at the time it was all hushed up ? A good question to put to Mr Marsh next week, Regards, Martyn. |

If this was put together in 1959, then its 50 years old, and must be the original Marcos?!?!

I suspect the donor vehicle came from 1959........

I suspect they didn't have Beach Buggies in 1959, I also suspect he's talking rowlocks, but the name on the logbook is intriguing

Apparently, fibreglass beach buggies didn't come about until 1964 (in the States), but Marcos were then still in the wooden days so I can't see anyway
this is even based on a Marcos. The log book for this one is a bit of a mystery, as it is clearly not the engine nor body that is from 1959. Maybe everything
has progressively been changed over the years.
There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

My MIDAS was made in 1989 but when the MOT station checked the numbers for the engine on their computer it came up as being made in the 1970's - so it is
possible the original Beetle donor parts for this buggy could have come from 1959, with the rest of the car being put together many years later, But I'm
still none the wiser how they got away with calling this one a Marcos

Have seen beach buggies with the word "Marcos" on them at shows before - one was at Tatton Park a few years back. I suspect it either relates to San
Marcos in some way or is a copycat / typo of the "Meyers Manx" which was the first dune buggy: http://www.speedace.info/beach_buggy.htm
Wohooo... this is my 1500th post... do I get a prize or something?

Jack wrote: You have now officially been awarded the title of 'Marcos Anorak'. This will entitle you to ask for free admission to all Marcos events (generally refused) and to talk incessantly about Marcos's to anyone regardless of what the conversation may originally have been. You will find others like you usually huddled together in small groups and easily recognised by the numerous badges they wear and or the smell of Beer and engine oil. Beer Bellies are an optional extra and will have to be paid for/earnt. Having a Marcos on the road is also a lesser known option as you can always post lots of pictures on here of the ongoing project that never quite makes it to events regardless of the hours put in. Ensure early on that you identify an unobtainable part that is your own personal 'Holy Grail' (and 'get out' excuse) You can opt out of some of these on a provisional basis only.
