I have wondered whether the V8 engine can be fitted/removed without disturbing the gearbox, or whether the whole lot has to go in and out as one lump. I assumed it was possible to split them, otherwise you would have to remove the whole shebang just to do the clutch, but I bet it is a bit tight. Clearly you are working on that basis.
Did you film this last summer ? Where is the rain, hail, sleet, snow ?
There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

"I have wondered whether the V8 engine can be fitted/removed without disturbing the gearbox"
I vaguely remember the gear-stick still being in situ when most of my car was in Herts for a respray at the same time my V8 was in Leicester getting made into a 4.6. There should be between 6 to 9 inches to play with at the front end - although that may only be minus belts and pulleys. I'm assuming this vid was only a test fitting of the shell as the fuel tank and wiring has still to go in.

Hi Zeke,
The bodyshell is on for good ! I don't think dropping the engine in with the gearbox in situ will cause any problems as there appears to be enough room to manoeuvre the engine into place, if it is a problem then i can soon remove the gearbox and fix them as one unit. I wanted to put the gearbox in place early as i am really short of space in the garage and the more bits on the car means more spare room to work in. The wiring loom is still attached to the body albeit rolled up and the fuel tank appears to simply slide home into the aperture in the boot just below the parcel shelf, just need a bit of spare time now to get cracking, Regards, Martyn...... |
