"Non-music evening" | #2 | ||
|
Keeping in line with the non-music, er possibly Dad's army theme........wouldn't it be interesting to have to have a Marcos & Morgan battle of the
bands at the Ace? Can any muso's out there interested in having a session in the evening (using pro gear) let me know?

Can't find the "start a New Poll button" so will have to resort to other means Using distance from the Ace Cafe (from Google maps) as a criteria, putting them in order of nearest venues first, the above list looks like this http://www.rafmuseum.org.uk/london/index.cfm 5.4 mi - about 9 mins http://www.kew.org/... 10.0 mi - about 19 mins http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-osterleypark.htm 12.9 mi - about 27 mins http://www.nationaltrust....w-findaplace/w-hamhouse/ 14.1 mi - about 32 mins http://www.hrp.org.uk/ham... 17.7 mi - about 41 mins http://www.chessington.co... 22 mi - about 45 mins http://www.nationaltrust....w-findaplace/w-cliveden/ 26.2 mi - about 40 mins http://www.brooklandsmuse... 26.8 mi - about 42 mins http://www.mercedes-benzworld.co.uk 26.8 mi - about 42 mins http://www.rhs.org.uk/Home 34.2ml - about 47mins (best to allow Saturday afternon in London mid-may traffic jam risk factor of 30% to the above) Comments Please ?

Poles Decision | #8 | ||
|
Ok then, I've had a word with the Poles and they have decided that the RAF Museum is their favourite
Although I suspect that their decision might have something to do with the Battle of Britain and their part in it

In the spirit of true British democracy
Can we put that proposal to the committee for consideration?

Zeke, most of the Thames Valley Group are not on the Forum, so you "might" get a response from a direct email to them.
If its going to be the RAF Museum can you ask them to move the Mosquito outside so we can photograph the cars with it =) |

The development of this post is making very difficult to avoid another visit to the Ace. (assuming non-Thames valley owners are invited again)

I've e-mailed the Thames Valley group and I note the poles may have some competition.....
I'm likely to need to be at the Ace earlier than usual (for me) to organise the "non musical" entertainment" for the evening so I don't have a preference for the venue in the afternoon. Need to check if the Essex and Kent fraternity are ok with meeting up on the westside of the M25 ........ |

Chiltern Open Air Museum is 17.2 miles - about 32 mins from the Ace
It's a Marcos & Morgan event & isn't restricted to Thames Valley only, but we might need to guage the numbers to fit in the car park before we get there. I understand the Lotus V8s might be interested in coming too but we had quite a turn out last year with Marcos and Morgan alone. As people came from all over last year it should be possible to stage the afternoon vists with a final pre-Ace get together and convoy from the RAF Museum. We didn't have a road trip last year and the RAF is close enough to get mostly everyone involved this time round. We have plenty time to discuss the logistics of that before the event |

I've made some preliminary enquiries with the ACE about arranging some live bands for the 15th within the general theme of music played by British bands
throughout the Marcos era, which gives us quite a bit of scope .............and the initial response is favourable.
There is quite a healthy live band scene in London that we can draw from on the night although I'm interested in an F1 style Marcos and Morgan night where the drivers and their mates get up to play - assuming they can actually play that is. This could range from just getting up and playing a few numbers with the house band for the night (which I can arrange) or - as I'm now hearing via my PMs - there might be a few Marcos and Morgan related bands out there that would prefer to get up and do their own set. At this stage I'm not thinking to much about the costs of doing this (we can get all of the band equipment up there for free) , more about how many musicians would be interested in doing it for the hell of it. So do we need to ask the poles about this one too? or can we have some volunteers so's I can start working out the logistics - send me a PM

Zeke you will usually find you will have to make the final decision, and it's you choose as you are organising the event.
What works best, or is easier for you? |

I've consulted my pole and as we already have 3 bands lined up with possibly room for a couple more (which will decide whether we start at 7 or 8pm), I
think Live Ace is a runner.........
