Anyone got a spare dashboard top or mantaray as I have heard them nicknamed, for a Mantula? Mine is not a great fit and the vent holes do not line up with the
holes in the existing one. I plan to keep it for posterity (or a future owner who doesn't drive the Mantula in the rain) and to modify a second hand item
and cover it in black hide. Mantaray

Nomis,
I've got one that I could probably part with. I'm completely changing the dash so will be changing the top. I was going to chop the old one up to modify, but if someone wants an intact one then I'll make the bits from new. It's from an '85 Mantula Coupe so should be as close a match as possible for your car (Phormally Phermals right?). Make me an offer. I'll be heading south early in December so might be able to drop it off if collection isn't convenient as I think postage might not be a good idea. Cheers, Chris. |

That was quick! I am interested.... what condition is it in and what is the cover/colour? It might have the vents in the right place if it is a mantula
-I'm ever the optimist.
Yes it was phemal's car - it has been looked after well and is in top condition. I'm fettling and getting used to it, but I want to make it more useable - I can now drive it after dark and even see where I'm going and a what speed I'm doing! cheers Simon |

Condition is ok, but not concourse.
It's covered in leather, which I think was a sort of grey / cream colour in a previous life but appears to have been recoloured to black at some point. The vent holes are just two little holes with some 'top hats' underneath for the flexi hose from the heater box to attach to. It's stashed at my folks house (along with the doors, old engine & box, rear screen....) so if you want I can get my Dad to take some pics of it? As for the quick response, purely conicidental. Like good comedy, it's all about the timing. Cheers, Chris. |

Nomis,
I gave some misleading info on my last post, oops! The panel doesn't have the top hat thingies attached, they were attached to the plywood inside the dash. (I could glue them on for you!) Steve, your car is looking good in the pics, nice and tidy. The rebuild is...progressing. I lost a about 3 months this year through ill health, but I'm back to working on the car. This year there's been a lot of 'invisible' work where I come back to the garage and wonder whether I've actually got anywhere. Moving on to the more visible work now where big and obvious things will be taking shape over the Christmas hols. I might have a few pics to show soon. Some things are being kept close to my chest, I need to keep a few secrets for a 'surprise' at the big unveiling in XX years time. Cheers, Chris. (Sorry for briefly hijacking the thread Nomis) |

Hi Chris
That all sounds Fine. The top hats might be of use to me. A pic would be good then I'll PM you to sort out the details, to save the thread getting too long. Rebuild sounds interesting - so look forward to seeing/hearing more on the Forum. cheers Simon |
