Can anyone give me good advice and procedures for stripping the body components back to the bare shell on my 1969/70 V6?

Besides the obvious you will need to remove front and rear glass and rubber, door and boot rubber, door handles and locks, boot lock, bonnet lock, windscreen
washer nozzles and anything else that should not be painted in the same colour. Only mask off major things like door windows and rubbers.
Remember the preparation is the most important. And I would recommend a quality 2 pack paint. (mine goes in this Friday) Hire or borrow a professional rotary sander and compressor. Don't use one of those $30 ones. |

Thanks Ray,
The body has had all bolt on bits removed and is off the chassis, what I am looking for is the best method to remove all paint etc back to Gel Coat. David |

I used a sharpened wood chisel to carefully scrape away the top coats down to primer then sand last coat by hand.Chisel doesn't stay sharp for long and it
does call for a steady hand. I found loads of filler on my car some areas were old repairs other areas from build to get panel fit!Try and find any areas of
crazing as these will need further preparation when all the paint has been removed. There's a good book on fibreglass restoration by Miles Wilkins
"How to Restore Fibreglass Bodywork" Isbn 0 85045 556 1 out of print and rare but worth searching for, and Marcos gets a mention and a couple of
photos.
