Help/advice needed - the chassis on my 1998 Mantis is overall not TOO bad, but is showing the usual rusting as the powder coating has broken down and
largely fallen off. Good news is that it doesn't (at the moment) need major section replacement/welding/full chassis replacement, but rather than just
whack Waxoyl all over everything for another year, what I want to do is to try to do the best protection job that I can WITHOUT taking the car apart or the
body off. Ian at Rustco has been very helpful with ideas on what to put on afterwards (thanks Ian) - problem now is to remove the rust and get back to as good
a surface as I can. Brushing/sanding is going to take a very long time and will probably not achieve a good enough result. Does anyone have any
ideas/experience of getting the visible chassis back to bare metal without taking the body off? Is shot/soda blasting possible/advisable with the body still
on? Anyone have any better ideas rather than just going down the Waxoyl route????
Thanks v much in advance for all help/thoughts.
