when was the last time a Marcos was on a front cover of a mag? |

I certainly do not know this being a relatively new comer to the wonderful world of Marcos. However what is going to happen and will also be a very proud
moment for all of us is that in the last week of August Classic Car Magazine are coming down to me to do a 2 page feature on the resurrection on the LM600 road
car with a road test report and action shots of her on the road!. One thing i have insisted is that it gets front cover!!!! they have agreed with this I will
also plug the Marcos Owners club along with the 50th event at prescott. Believe me I am gonna turn this marque around and get some proper coverage and
recognition of this wonderful british sports car. What better than a full on aggressive looking bright orange LM600 roaring upto the camera on a country lane
with all the trees etc rushing past making the front cover shot with a bold headline!. It will happen so i will start this thread as a kind of update as to
when this actually happens, what the reporter thinks. ( he is going to drive the LM) and find out which issue makes the headlines. A very proud moment for me
and all of us i guess, hopefully before the NEC classic so Marcos as a marque will already be well in the public eye ready for the event.

That is fantastic, and well deserved! My Mantula appeared on the front cover of Practical Performance Car in May 2007 - albeit only a few inches square and
with the colour manipulated to appear blue - but it was featured inside on a long article.
When I bought the car I got the full set of studio pics (white background model shots in super high-res), but the magazine didn't have copyright (just first use rights), but through the magazine I was allowed to use them for my own web pages and club calendars etc so long as they had a copyright notice (they didn't specify the font size). So if you want to use the pics yourself, or put them on a website, then make sure you get some sort of consent you are happy with. But YES YES - more exposure, get a new generation lusting after Marcos cars as collectibles as many of the owners are gentlemen who lusted after then in their youth, and only now have fulfilled their ambitions. We want dorky Metro owners to dream of a Marcos...go for it.... Steve
There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

That`s great news mate , I hope in that in small way my chivvying of them has helped too . I`ve badgered the editor by e-mail more than once since early in
2009 to do a feature on Marcos . I love the magazine but get a bit tired of the same old same old sometimes . Well done and congratulations .

The shoot | #11 | ||

Thanks Gazza glad you enjoyed the car, anyway TODAY two members of Classic Car magazine came down at 10.00am and we met at the Essex University ( quite roads
and lots of scenery!!) and i met a photographer and the reporter for the mag, we did lots of different location shots, they placed huge suction cap mounts over
the car and took various moving pictures of the car from different angles and this will create the 100mph look even though i was doing 15mph!!! a trick of the
trade apparantly! The feature is going to be 5 pages!!!! with lots of pics and a write up about how the LM was re born and also the reporter took her for a
spin up a dual carrigeway to get his own feel for the car and do a write up on his experiance, lets just say when he got back he had a big grin on his face and
he said " god its like driving a proper le man racer" so the write up should be very good, they expect it will be the front cover for the Dec issue
BUT the mag will be out in October??? They are going to keep me updated to when it will actually appear in the mag. So all in all a very successful day for
the LM600 and Marcos. NOW for the part of the day that turned bitter!!!!............. On the way back with them i was driving the LM and suddenly a huge
metal clank noise and then scraping could be heard from under the car so i thought oh no what now??? Turns out the bloody starter motor had some how shook
loose from its mounting and then got caught under the car and has partly damaged the bell housing of the gear box and the starter motor is knackered. So
luckily i was only about 2 miles away from Greenspeed ( martin) so he came out and i always carry a towing bar as it seems to be a bit un reliable lately so we
towed it back to his work shop but unfortunately the tow bar has damaged the body work also where the tow eye is on the front of the car inside one of the air
intake sections. Not too much damage but dont need that also! So thats it for now no more driving the bloody car until it is properly sorted, i am still going
to get the Dymag wheels from Cor Euser and get them on the car so it will not make any more apperances etc until NEC classic hopefully by then it should all be
sorted.

Oh wow, but this car IS worth the trouble. I was going to say SHE is worth the trouble - but then you form you own
opinions about the gender of a car !
So have you formed an opinion yet ? It looks all muscle, but maybe you two have got off on the wrong footing .... Steve

Comiserations Boycey , what a bummer after the "high" of the photo shoot. I would be in tears of rage if I had to endure all the hassles you have
had lately. Lets hope that`s the end of the bad luck and it`s all drives and smiles fom now on. Can`t wait for Octobers "December" ! copy of Classic
Cars ( why do periodicals get so out of line with calender ?).
I noticed in this months Classic Car ( October !! ) that next months mag has an article on the Marcos V6 , so even more press for the marque ! |

Not front page but a six page spread with photos at Prescott and write up to celebrate the 50th Anniversary and history of Marcos Cars appears in
November/December 2009 (Vol 6, number 6) issue of tkc mag which I found last week end in a newsagents. Leads with a larger picture of Boyceys LM and is nice
and glossy with other good images and write up.
