Just done a search at DVLA for the car in the episode of The Saint and it's still around just listed as Black, no longer white as in the photo's. Looks
like they made a mess of the frontend when filming!

the ugly duckling in the michel vaillant episodes was the 1966 1000km nurburging race entered car by autocadia racing, driven by: Albert
Powell (GB)/Anthony Harvey (GB)
it is the same car, which already took part in the 1964 1000km. 1966 was not lucky, as it finished mid of the race with engine trouble and was parked after karussell bend with oil dripping underneath. later i met the car at alan hall in potters bar, who raced it historically in the 1980ies, but with wrong bonnet fitted (fastback low nose one, same as 3PLY), was sold early 1990ies to japan, where it disappeared from the scene till today. here my pictures, i took at the race in 1966.
car parked close to the hedges near karussel bend after engine trouble by the way, the vaillant episodes are really worth seeing, as they were filmed during real racing in sportscar worldchamp. events in 1965 and 1966, unfortunately only in french language, and showing mainly the race-entries of the alpine works-team, especially with the beautiful A210 long-tail prototypes.

Hi Raceply,
It's a couple of great pictures. Luckily you were photographing the lesser known cars! Cheers Maarten |

hi maarten,
yes it is the car from 1964 1000km, entered by roger nathan (117 Roger Nathan / GB Gordon Jones / GB Marcos Gullwing Ford Roger Nathan Racing Prototype 1.3 grid: 53. laptime 10:59,600) i think it was climax powered in its early days, but was faster than all entered of course also climax powered lotus elite on the circuit in the eifel mountains in 1964. when alan hall had it up for sale, it was ford 1500 cc precrossflow powered, still have all the documents including the pictures, taken from the car. |
