I have also found that TD prices to be very high based on a per person cost. I have now booked my camp site and race tickets from Just Tickets. Only the ferry
to sort out now. Sorry John, because I know that you worked very hard to get us a good deal from them. However, they are not competitive in their pricing.

Jon, just a stupid question about LM Classic but it might be applicable to someone else!
I have not registered with TD as I have a hotel sorted, and don't need entry tickets...... BUT do I need to register with Travel Destinations to be included with the Marocs Clubs Stand in the Bugatti Enclosure, or is that being sorted out by the Clubs?? I just hope to have my car their next year! Thanks for all the hard work, Gary |

TD price is for ferry crossing, Entry , Grandstand + Paddock £239.00 bit high but the EURO is rubbish at the moment and may get worse this price is firm
...crystal ball anyone? Organisers have asked that all club cars (camping) are in Nord. So that will be a very interesting place to be
How much a Lap was it last time, is this on offer next year ? I've got a stand at the NEC I'll come over and grab a mint. Ian |

Invitation to Bugatti Clubs Enclosure, general admission & Paddocks, plus grandstand | #49
|
Is it really two years since we did this before?! OK, with some trepidation, I'm asking for interest in direct ticket bookings at a cost of:
General admission & Paddocks - 45 euro Grandstand access - 10 euro Track laps - 120 euro (Saturday morning only) Modern cars parking - 15 euro The organisers have also asked if the Clubs would be interested in having a dedicated "Club House" and, or a Clubs Party. They will decide this on basis of responses. Any thoughts? Also available are pre-booked helicopter rides at 120 euro and a track lap aboard a vintage bus at 25 euro. Please don't send me any money at the moment. I'm conscious that John has already looked into arrangements and that some of you may have already booked tickets. The information from the organisers has been quite late in coming this year, otherwise we could have advertised this in the last magazines. Appreciate if you could pass this message on to those you know who don't use the Forum. Regards, Isobel |

Have just looked at booking Weds night crossing with LD Lines to Le Havre as I did last time and there are no cabins available only sleeper seats.
Still have availability of other crossings at the moment, Thurs night and days. Looks as though everyone is booking early this time around and also prices are a fair bit higher as well compared to 2008. Have now placed deposit and booked with Brttany Ferries Weds Portsmouth - Caen return Mon both overnight crossing with large cabin for 2-4 people. All in price £300 which not too bad when it saves a B&B on both nights. Just need accommodation and tickets now. Isobel - know you are trying to arrange so will wait a bit to see what you come up with. Jon - likewise |

Le Mans Classic - ticket orders | #52
|
With apologies for the delay, here are the arrangements for ordering tickets:
Please state if you are coming to the event in a Marcos and, therefore, require access to the Bugatti Enclosure. We need to have at least 10 cars to get a stand. Also, please note that tickets are available at these prices whether or not you are coming in a Marcos, so please make clear any additional ticket requirements. Please list exact requirements, i.e. number of general entrance tickets, number of grandstand passes, track laps.

Travel Destinations prices as quoted to me today are:
Channel Tunnel crossing 07:20hrs Sat 3rd July to 19:20hrs Sat 17th July £229 (£102 if I booked it myself via their website for 05:56hrs outbound & 20:20hrs return) General Entrance ticket with Paddock £85 each (Entrance £55 Paddock £30) Grandstand £20 each Track Laps £130 So total cost (including our Eurotunnel booking) Through TD £569 By going through Isobel and booking our own Eurotunnel crossing: £332 A saving of £237 is not to be sniffed at so I think TD will have to think very carefully about their pricing if they wish to survive in the future. Travel Destinations have to service their overheads (ABTA membership, insurances, offices, wages) etc. WE (the Marcos clubs) are very fortunate in having Isobel who obviously does all this for us at very close to if not at cost price, asking us only to pay for our own stamps and envelopes. Some folks may point out certain pitfalls and a lack of insurance in allowing one private club member to control the cash and handle all the bookings. It's true that in certain clubs, this has in the past proved to be costly. HOWEVER, I am certainly not casting doubt on Isobel and I personally trust her completely, I am more than willing to trust her with my cash and on reflection if she lost the lot, I could still book it all again within the original price charged by other companies. All the best everyone and looking forward to seeing some of you on Saturday Bob |

Aviator,
Thanks for posting that, most interesting reading. Our thanks go to Isobel for all the hard work (again,) and without her (CMI) we would not have the invite to park in the Bugatti enclosure. |

In fairness to Travel Destinations, Richard did point out some differences between what Nuala had arranged and what they were offering
1). Channel tunnel crossing - Nuala had sorted specific times of departure. T.D. were offering a "turn up and go" ticket without being tied to a specific time which is apparently (I haven't checked) and understandably more expensive. 2). "customers also receive a lot more from us than just tickets in the post" 3). "We also worked with John over a period of months in arranging a private campsite on circuit for the Marcos members". This had no bearing on my requirements and should'nt have any effect on what I was charged by T.D. as We had already booked accomodation for 2 weeks. 4). My comment "TD will have to think very carefully about their pricing if they wish to survive in the future" was perhaps rather emotive, not particularly objective or factual and I therefore acknowledge that I should not have said it. Richard (T.D.) pointed out to me in his email: "Travel Destinations are an official agent of Le Mans. We are an ABTA and ATOL bonded tour operator and have been looking after various car clubs and their travel arrangements for over 15 years. We offer a personal and professional service to all customers and have a high percentage of repeat customers". I think it is a fair point and something which I alluded to in my previous post. People will have to decide if they wish to pay the premium for a service which carries all the assurances of an ABTA and ATOL bonded operator. I have no axe to grind with regard to T.D. and I only posted the charges as applicable to me in order that my friends on here who had yet to decide or book anything could be better informed. Kind Regards Bob |

Camping
One of the problems last year is that we had to book camping individually, so instead of being all together on one site we were spread all over the place. It looks like it's going to be the same again unless we pay TD's £237 'booking fee' which seems a bit steep. |

Must agree with Aviator & Gary. We are very, very lucky to have Isobel who is always willing to take on arranging this sort of thing for us and of
course we can trust her implicitly with our money. Really don't know how most events would get off the ground successfully without her input. Must admit
that we felt the most important factor regarding the arrangements for Classic Le Mans 2010, both for us personally and the profile of the marque, was to again
have a club stand in the Bugatti enclosure which we believe is by invitation only and goes to Isobel (happy to be corrected if we've got this wrong).

Le Mans Camping at circuit | #59
|
Hi all, my first post. Has anyone cracked the camping thing at Le Mans 2010. We have got travel sorted, Isobel, bless her, is doing the tickets for entry, we
have yet to get a campsite sorted. Would like to be on circuit but most, if not all, on offer require the purchase of entry tickets - at more than quoted by
Isobel.
So can anyone provide info on getting camping tickets alone for our two cars. Thanks Alex |

fear not, there is always camping available at the track if you just turn up, you may have more of a walk though but there's a little train thingy that
runs along the road, unless that is the driver has an extended vino soaked lunch. if you can get something booked up take advantage, especially if it's
quieter
