Hi my Mantara GTS started leaking copious amounts of petrol, yep not good. Just spent the afternoon getting a petrol shampoo, but discovered what appear to be
2 filters, one metal and one plastic and an electric pump. The jubilee clips that hold it together appear to have point rusted in spite of waxoyling from new
and seems to be leaking through the pin holes. Its an AC metal filter, anyone any ideas what its from?

Hi ---l replaced both filters a month or so ago-------got them from MHS.
You will need to check with Rory which one is fitted to your car ---one is more expensive than the other (relatively speaking !) PS lt's best, if tank is virtually empty -though it sounds like the" leak" has taken care of some of it, or at least wear a loose fitting poly bag over your head |

Having had problems with properly rated fuel hoses failing on two of my cars this year (and a not-properly rated one on the Marcos making it 3 out of 3) I
would suggest a close inspection of the condition of the fuel pipes, and if they are not up to scratch - for example if they show any sign of cracking on the
end when removed, then replace the fuel hoses with the highest spec ones you can get. Fuel manufacturers are starting to add ethanol to petrol (welcomed by
tree-huggers) and that is more aggressive to fuel hoses. Mine failed using V-Power and that doesn't have ethanol yet, but still seems to go for the hoses.
I spoke to Sytek a few months ago who provide the aftermarket hoses for a number of outlets, and they said they had a new hose coming in, but they hadn't
even got the spec yet. So this is an area of catchy-uppy from the fuel hose people as new additives to fuel are really beginning to test them (especially the
bio in bio-diesel - not that it affects us)..
Also any fuel piping between filters and EFi (I assume you have EFi) must be scrupulously clean internally, as the tiniest bit of rubbish can affect the spray pattern on an injector. Frequent poster here - Hydraulic1 knows far more than me, so may be worth seeking out for hose advice . Steve

Gentlemen many thanks, MHS it is and I'll check the hoses carefully, don't want to go through it all again anytime soon. Having had the petrol shampoo
and set, I'm still trying to get rid of the smell!

good luck, several of us have been there and done that . Certainly MHS is the preferred route to make sure you get correct filters ( change them both ). Very
tricky as you will have found by now as access is awkward to say the least. I dare say the GTs set up is similar to the V8. Well worth changing hoses at same
time to .
They smell of petrol lingers for days no matter how much you wash dunnit ? A match should cure that though !!
