It has got to be the 3.09 to 1.
Makes the car much better, this is the ratio that is in the 3Litre Capri.
If you get the 3L Capri one you also get bigger rear drums.
As an added bonus you get improved fuel consumption.
Having it shortened is not too much of a problem, other than to the pocket.
To be certain everything fits correctly get the brackets fitted by Marcos Heratage,
they have the jigs and when they got mine done the welding was first class.
You will probably also need the Prop Shaft shortened a little (about an inch) and you will need an adaptor plate as the Prop connections are a different size.
On the Capri Axle (and probably any other type) the Hand Brake won't fit.
I rotated the Back Plates 180 degrees, re drilled two mounting holes and then the brake arm goes across the top of the Diff nose.
So make sure you get all the Hand Brake kit when you get the Axle, also a Capri Hand Brake Cable. Will need minor mods at the Hand Brake lever.

One thing to watch this will alter the indicated speed on the Speedo, with 175.80 tyres mine now shows 60mph when the Sat Nav shows 70mph.

The original Cortina Axle is the Salisbury 7HA which is very very rare.
