It's going to be very tight. The car is painted now but unfortunately the bodyshop were unable to fit the rear screen due to a small problem. They were
going to re-profile the roof to match the curvature of the rear glass. That will have to wait now untill i can have a rear screen made up. Just for now
i've had them fit the old plastic screen so i can get to the 50th bash and have a beer with you lot.
There are a couple of other issues with the paint, but since it was the bodyshop that brought them to my attention i have every confidence that they'll be sorted when they re-do the roof. The colour is a kind of Cadbury purple that changes to blue depending on the light and how much you've had to drink. The seats and trim are being re-covered and will be back with me on Friday. I chose cream leather for the seats, doors and transmission tunnel and black carpets. Simple and classy i think. I'll do my best to get some pics posted in the next 24 hours. I have my new Gaz shocks and springs to fit before the weekend as well. Like i said, it's going to be tight but i'm going all out to get there. Thanks for looking fellas. |

Here are the pics as promised. Spent a good chunk of the day trying to source bolts for my rear shocks and the remainder re-tapping the bolt holes for the passenger door. It's going to be very, very close. It's 11.40pm now and i'm going to spend a bit more time on it before having some sleep. Quiffster, you'll know me when you see me in the Marcos Marquee..my smile will enter first followed by the rest of me. While i have your attention, TQ, do you have a spot for me where i can park my car? Somewhere dry preferably, just in case i have to drive up with only one door. The guys in the paintshop think i'm mad, and the girls in the office upstairs are taking bets as to wether i get there or not.
See you at the weekend! |

Friday update. With the unbelievable assistance of the bodyshop, me and a couple of mates have worked through the night and we've made slow but steady
progress. The pics show how far along we've managed to get. I've just taken a break from wiring the lights so that i can post a few more pics. Those of
you with a keen eye will notice that the car no longer has a sunroof. I decided to do away with the cheapy glass tilt roof after the car was primed.
Bodyman had intended to finish the fine shaping of the roof when i had a rear glass, but since that isn't happening he kindly threw a coat of paint over what he'd done so far so that i could drive it. The wiring is turning out to be more of a pain than i expected but determination and brute force will get it done i'm sure. Not all of the trim is finished but we've managed to glue in the carpet down the drivers side and fit the drivers seat and transmission tunnel cover. Looks very fresh inside it now, on the drivers side anyhow. Here are the pics. Thanks all for looking. ![]() ![]()

Hi
Great to meet you Sunday - what a Marcos day !! Well done to get the car there, looked great and I like the finished colour. You can relax a little now and get all the jobs completed to make it a great car you will be proud of. |

Yes, an excellent day. Looking forward to the centenary next. Fantastic turnout of cars, so many that i drained my camera battery. A very good weekend indeed.
Now that the heat is off i can get back to not updating this thread regularly.
Happy to report that despite not being finished and having no dash instruments the car made it there and back without incident. Since the weekend i've completed the suspension upgrade and now i'm just waiting on the fabrication section of this painshop to crack on with making me a rear screen. I'll post pics as the work progresses. The first ones will be in the next couple of days. Someone arrange another get together in a few weeks time please. I'm free last week in September. Hillclimber, hurry up and finish your car so i can see it in action. |

Hello, Bob, thanks for the comment. I'm on my way out to do some Bank Holiday shopping right now but as soon as i get back i'll post contact details
on here.
What Marcos do you have, bud? Whatever model it is you won't be disappointed with what these guys do. Jura-Spray did my powder coating and their work is also excellent. The bodyshop already have another Marcos in undergoing a full re-spray and another that's left hand drive that they painted/restored over a year ago. I'll dig the number out and you can see for yourself. Friendliest firm i've ever had to deal with. |

Good to chat at prescott and hope your build is going well. You mentioned you had a source for a decent (ripple free) glass rear window. Did it work out? If so
I'd love the details. Tim
