It is such a common mistake, that I half convinced myself the word was derived from the French - Guage, and that people spelling it that way were pedants using
the correct 18th century spelling. I have books with it spelled 'guage' going back to 1842.
On the other hand - maybe not... 
The fuel gauge would be one of the rapid moving types I suppose, reading full on left handers and empty on right handers - in true Marcos style..
There's a lot of talk these days about green transport. Well, I am ahead of the game, I already have green transport ... British racing green.

...white or black background? The adjustment knob on my Mantis clock has fallen off, so they would all be useful spares - but mine are whites and I don't
know if they are the same as the LM500s. Thanks!

the gauges are white and they measure 55mm dia ,
however it seems that the clock does not adjust so unless you are happy with it reading five to eleven all the time dont think you will be too interested. The other clocks are in good codition |

Thanks Bigbore. Right size, but mine has got (or more accuratley, had) a small black plastic knob in the right lower quarter of the dial coming through the
perspex cover - in the absence of which I have the same adjustemnt issue as you. Thanks for help, but guess I will have to stick with current clock adjustment
regime, involving the live battery lead, a watch and a ring spanner.
