Thanks for the comment, Hillclimber. The old love is now ready for topcoat colour but as i said earlier i'm still unsure of a colour. Luckily, the final colour is all included in the price of the job, all i have to do is pick one and i'm in business. The thing holding me up is that i don't want to choose something that looks great on a colour chip but sucks when it's on a car. Especially on an early, wooden chassis Marcos.

I'd like something that will freshen it up but i don't want to get too far away from 1969 and how these cars would have looked when new. Work out how to post pics, Hillclimber, then stick a couple of your car up so we can have a look. Seeing a good repair with fresh primer on is a very satisfying sight. Are you having a full re-spray or are you just doing the nasty bits?

Not a fan of tangerine and i only like lime when it's served up in a cold lager. Actually that last bit isn't true. Lime is acceptable on a sports car, it's just that i'm dead set on blue cos it'll go well with the trim job that i have in mind. It's definitely going to be a dark blue, i just can't decide on a normal metallic, a pearl or a candy finish. A subtle candy finish not one of those lurid Pimp My Ride jobs.

If i knew what i wanted i could send it in tomorrow for painting. The manager of the paintshop told me that he wouldn't have sent Bodyman over to rub the primer down if he had known that i wasn't ready. He reckons that they'll have to rub it all down again when it goes in cos a car shouldn't sit around with exposed, clean primer open to the atmosphere. Anyone know if this is true or is he pulling my chain?

Ok, that's fair enough. My bad. But it really did sound like he was stretching it a bit at the time. I've never heard of anything like that before, apart from the blistering bit. I was under the impression that this polyester primer was top stuff. So providing that it all gets rubbed down for a second time, will my paint job be blister free? I'll get some pics up soon of how it looks right now.

Saw your pics in your thread, D. Outstanding job you've done to your car. You really can say that it looks totally different from what you started out with.
You should document the whole job in your thread if you have the pics. I know i'd love to see the transformation and i'm sure others would as well. Amazing job.

Here's a pic from a company that sprays wood. These guys treated and finished my floorpan. I'm tempted to see how much a finish like this would cost for my floorpan. I know it wouldn't stay shiny for long but it would look superb in the pics. The door in the picture below is gun finish.

This is a piece of MDF that's going to be a table. I'm waiting on some info back regarding dash and fascia veneers. Word is that this outfit can stain wood into virtually any colour and then lacquer and polish it to a glass finish. Not a glass-like finish. A glass finish. I'm waiting to see if they can do a walnut or elm veneer in blue for my interior.

Not original i know. But it's something that's different and i reckon it'll look ok.

Andrew, thanks for chiming in. That's a good example of what i am after. I'd prefer the more traditional burr walnut type look but in a dark blue instead of the usual dark brown stain. I'll show this pic to my bodyshop.

Don't despair at your panel fit. Mine were utterly crap to start off with but now i'm completely happy with them. The interior is away to be trimmed tomorrow and i'm aiming to have the car top coated some time next week. I've narrowed the colour down to 2 and if i still can't choose by next week i'll just toss a coin.

I treated myself to a new rear screen last weekend. I couldn't put that old, yellowed perspex one back in now that the car is looking so good so i shelled out for a glass one. Bodyman will have to visit because i think that the aperature is too big for it. With my mates help i held it in position to see how it looked and found that the glass is isn't tall enough between the roof and the rear scuttle. I don't have a rubber for it yet so i'm not sure how much of a difference it will make but i'd just as well have the bodyshop take a look and see what they think.

What model is your car, Andrew? Do you have a pic?

You can only get older type glass rear screens from MOC as we own the moulds. Please try the MOC again as we are back in business and i can only say sorry for the last 2 years.

Yep, try them again. Excellent customer service and a quality product. You won't be disappointed.
