Marcos XP for 50th campaign. |

Hopefully not too late but i had a chat with Richard P last night (he came round) and we was taliking about the XP coming over for the big event! he mentioned
that it would cost about £3K to get the car shipped over but the owners have not got the funds to do this. SO how about a whip round? i will put up £500 and
i am sure a few others can put a similer amount in but £2500 between 30 odd of us could make this happen!. Put your bit in and i will keep richard informed
but as i am fully aware credit crunch and all that it may not happen!.

Hi Boycey. It's a great idea, & a very generous offer from you. I'd love to actually see the XP & would be happy to contribute £50 (nowhere
near your amount I'm afraid). However, with a few more than 30 people it's achievable... Go for it!

Hi Everybody,
Amazingly how news travels !!
We have been talking to Ned for the past few months now with a view to bringing the car over for the 50th Anniversary, and he is very enthusiastic and would dearly love to bring the car over. We have approached the other clubs involved and unfortunately they are not able to contribute. We have already told Ned that Marcos Heritage will make a substantial contribution and through Richard Partridge - Boycey has very kindly put up the first very generous donation!. Marcos Heritage have donated £1500.00 to get the ball rolling, and will be putting up a page on the website very shortly to ask willing owners if they can contribute to make up the rest. We will keep a running total on our website as we go.
The costs will involve the following: - The shipping of the car from Los Angeles to Felixstowe - Landing costs, UK handling, documentation, unloading and customs clearance - Transport of the car to Marcos Heritage - Transport of the car to Prescott - Plus return charges to Los Angeles.
This is all subject to Ned Morris's final agreement! We are talking to Ned on a regular basis to try an iron out any unforeseen problems. Will keep you all posted through the website - which will go up live tomorrow.
All of those kind enough to donate, please forward funds ( by Cheque or credit card ) to Marcos Heritage, and this will be fully receipted and refundable should the car not leave the US.
Thank you to everybody for your very generous offers already!!
Any queries, please don't hesitate to contact us 01380 871717
Kind Regards Emily. |

This is a very generous donation from Marcos Heritage. But i have a question.
Is Marcos Heritage going to charge the funds for there involvement in transporting the car and storing it while in the country. Or will they give there services free. I ask this question as it seems Marcos Heritage will give more money to bring one car to the event than to the event itself. |

If John Brookes cared to contact me before putting incorrect information on the forum, I would have explained that Marcos Heritage is not making a penny from
any aspect of the 50th celebrations. To clarify the position we are employing proffessional transporters to move the XP once it lands the uk, both for security
reasons and so that the finger cannot be pointed at Marcos Heritage !.
I would like to point out that Marcos Heritage is not only contributing to the hire of the venue, we are sending out numerous invitations, preparing identity cards for special guests, spending a huge amount of time on the telephone contacting guests, race drivers and tracking down previous owners, not to mention arranging marquees, etc... and travelling to Prescott to arrange the venue, etc .. all of which is being paid for by Marcos Heritage and not the commitee. I am very dissapointed and resent any implication that Marcos Heritage is profiting from this event. Full details of all of the costs are to be published on our website - as mentioned previously http://www.rory.uk.com/mantis_xp1.htm I am sorry that this has to be aired on the forum, and If anybody has any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. Regards Rory. |

Take this one offline please chaps!
To get back on topic, we can all agree that it's very exciting that the XP may be coming over to the UK, & if I get to see the car at some point over the Prescot weekend I shall be a very happy chappie.
